WEEKLY DEVOTION

To truly follow Christ is more than agreeing with His teachings or admiring His example—it is to surrender our lives to Him day by day.

When Jesus said, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me” (Luke 9:23), He was clear that following Him involves a turning. We turn from self-rule to Christ’s rule, from comfort to obedience, from our own agendas to God’s purposes. This is not a one-time decision but a daily posture of the heart.

Following Christ also means trusting Him even when the path is costly or unclear. The disciples left boats, nets, and familiar routines not because they understood everything ahead, but because they trusted the One who called them. In the same way, we are invited to walk by faith—believing that Jesus is worth more than what we leave behind and faithful to lead us where we need to go.

At its core, following Christ is about relationship. Jesus does not simply call us to do better; He calls us to be with Him. As we walk with Him in prayer, Scripture, and obedience, our lives are gradually shaped into His likeness. Love replaces fear. Grace overflows into how we treat others. Hope takes root even in suffering.

To follow Christ is to say each day, “Lord, not my will, but Yours be done.” And in that surrender, we discover the true life He promised—full, purposeful, and anchored in Him.
