WEEKLY DEVOTION

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NIV)

Encouragement is like oxygen for the soul — we can survive without it for a little while, but not for long. In moments of weariness, a timely word from a friend can remind us that God has not forgotten us. The apostle Paul knew this well, which is why he urged the Thessalonian believers to be intentional about building one another up.

Encouragement doesn’t have to be elaborate. Sometimes it’s a note, a text message, a smile, or a quiet prayer whispered on someone’s behalf. What matters is that we point people back to God’s faithfulness. When we encourage others, we aren’t just giving them a boost — we’re helping them see Jesus more clearly.

Who in your life might need a word of encouragement today? How can you be God’s messenger of hope for them?

Lord, thank You for the people who have encouraged me in my faith. Help me to be a source of strength and hope to others, pointing them to Your goodness. Amen.
