WEEKLY DEVOTION

As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.” – Psalm 103:13 (NIV)

This week, we honor fathers — the men who lead, provide, protect, and guide their families with love. But beyond celebrating biological fathers, we pause to recognize the sacred role of fatherhood itself — a reflection of God’s heart.

The Bible consistently reveals God as our Heavenly Father — not distant or harsh, but compassionate, patient, and full of mercy. Earthly fathers, though imperfect, are called to reflect that same kind of love to their children. When a dad prays with his child, disciplines with grace, or simply listens after a long day, he mirrors God’s care for us.

For those who’ve had wonderful fathers, this week is a week of gratitude. For those who carry pain or loss in this area, this week is a chance to look to the Father who never fails.

As we celebrate, let us thank God for the gift of fathers and father figures, and let us also renew our commitment to walk in the compassion and wisdom that come from our Heavenly Father.

Prayer:

Father God, thank You for showing us what true fatherhood looks like. Bless every father and father figure today. Strengthen them with Your love, fill them with Your wisdom, and help them to lead their families well. And for those hurting today, may they find comfort in knowing You are always near. Amen.
