When we hear the word surrender, we often think of weakness, defeat, or giving up. But in the kingdom of God, surrender is not about losing—it’s about gaining. To surrender to Jesus Christ is to lay down our control and place our lives fully in His hands, trusting that His way is better than ours.
Paul says in Galatians 2:20 that his old life is gone—crucified with Christ. Now, it’s Christ who lives in him. That’s the essence of complete surrender: no longer living for ourselves, but letting Jesus take the lead in every area of our lives—our plans, our desires, even our struggles.
Surrender is not a one-time decision but a daily posture. Each morning we have the choice: Will I cling to my own way, or will I yield to His? Jesus Himself modeled surrender when He prayed in Gethsemane, “Not my will, but Yours be done.”
When we surrender, we don’t lose—we gain peace instead of anxiety, purpose instead of aimlessness, and joy instead of emptiness.
Prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to You. Take my plans, my fears, and my desires, and shape them according to Your will. Teach me to trust You fully, to obey You completely, and to rest in the joy of being Yours. Amen.”
