But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Family is one of God’s most precious gifts. From the very beginning, God designed the family as a place of love, support, and spiritual growth. In Joshua 24, as Joshua speaks to the people of Israel, he makes a bold declaration—not just for himself, but for his entire household: “We will serve the Lord.” This statement reminds us that the family is meant to be united in purpose, rooted in faith, and committed to honoring God together.
In a world that often pulls families in different directions, it’s vital that we intentionally nurture our relationships at home. That might mean setting aside time for prayer together, listening more than we speak, offering forgiveness quickly, and serving one another with love.
God often uses the family to teach us patience, humility, and grace. It’s within our homes that we learn how to love unconditionally and reflect Christ to those closest to us. The love we show within our families becomes a testimony of God’s love to the world.
Lord, thank You for the gift of family. Help me to love them well, to be patient, kind, and faithful. Let our home be a place where You are honored and where Your love is felt deeply. Use our family to be a light to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
