“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18 (NIV)
Loss is a part of life that no one escapes. Whether it’s the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, a job, or a dream, grief can feel overwhelming and all-consuming. As Christians, we are not immune to sorrow—but we do grieve differently. We grieve with hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13).
The world tells us to move on or numb the pain, but Scripture invites us to bring our broken hearts to God. He doesn’t ask us to pretend we’re okay. In fact, Jesus Himself wept at the tomb of His friend Lazarus (John 11:35). God understands our pain intimately.
Loss invites us to lean on God in a deeper way. It strips away what is temporary and reminds us of what is eternal. In those dark valleys, we discover that God is not only present—He is close. He binds up our wounds, catches our tears (Psalm 56:8), and walks with us through every stage of grief.
If you’re facing loss today, remember: you’re not alone. The same God who conquered death offers comfort now and the promise of eternal restoration. One day, He will wipe away every tear (Revelation 21:4). Until then, His grace is enough for each day.

Prayer:
Father, in times of loss, remind us that You are near. Heal our hearts, hold our tears, and help us cling to the hope we have in Christ. May our sorrow draw us closer to You, and may Your presence be our peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
